Film festivals, sporting events, fishery days, street theatre and food festivals. Whatever takes your fancy, Zeeland organises it! Just think of a theme and Zeeland will have an event for it. In fact, there’s so much to see and experience, you won’t have time enough. All the more reason to come back again!

Exhibition ‘Anatomy of a Living Delta’
Discover Zeeland in a whole new way this summer! From 18 July to 18 August (from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), international photographer Luca Locatelli shares his view of Zeeland with you. You can admire his images in the impressive Oostkerk in Middelburg.
Locatelli is a photographer for National Geographic, among others, and has won several World Press Photo awards. In his work, he shows Zeeland as a region that is constantly changing and preparing for the future. The exhibition takes you past offshore wind farms, peaceful polders, innovative ideas and vulnerable nature. Locatelli’s images tell the story of how people, nature and technology strengthen one another in the search for a sustainable future.

Festivals on the water
Zeeland - literally, ‘land in sea’ - provides a unique decor for festivals and events. It’s no wonder that Zeeland’s festivals and events are renowned throughout the country. In addition to the most well-known of these, Concert at SEA, Zeeland organises a whole host of other festivals. For example, Festival aan Zee on the beach at Vlissingen, Festival De Ballade on the waterfront at Terneuzen and Beachboom at Brouwersdam. Are you a jazz fan? If so, Jazz by the Sea in Domburg is definitely your thing!

Even more music festivals
In addition to waterside venues, there are great music festivals at other locations too! There’s something to suit everyone’s taste. From classical music at the Festival van Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, to spectacular street theatre, dance and performance at the Zeeland Nazomerfestival. Middelburg also holds the City of Dance once a year. Do you prefer a more intimate music festival? Try VESTROCK, a 3-day festival in Hulst. Suitable for young and old, with pop, dance, rock and other musical genres.
Sporting events
With so many beaches, Zeeland is the ideal place for great sporting events. From Zeeland’s coastal marathon (42km), described as the best and the most gruelling in the Netherlands, to DAM-X, the biggest watersports event in the country. Racing cyclists can get their kicks on the ZLM Tour, whilst cyclo-cross riders can indulge their passions in the Vestingcross in Hulst. Looking for something more raucous? If so, visit the Strandcross in Vlissingen and enjoy the roar of motocross dirt bikes on its Badstrand beach.
Fishery festivals
Once a year, the fishing ports of Bruinisse, Yerseke and Breskens paint their towns red with their fishery days. With bustling street fairs, live music, delicious food and drink and other great activities, you won’t go home disappointed. For example, you can take a trip out to sea on a mussel dredger. Learn how fish and shellfish are prepared and sample the surprisingly salty flavours!
Late summer events
There's plenty to experience in Zeeland during late summer too. From 24 to 30 August, enjoy live music at the Abdij Zomeravonden on the Abdijplein in Middelburg. Then, from 28 August to 5 September, Schouwen-Duiveland comes alive with the Zeeland Nazomerfestival – nine days of theatre, music and intimate performances in unique locations.
Film lovers can then enjoy Film by the Sea, taking place from 11 to 20 September.
During Open Monument Day, special historic buildings across Zeeland open their doors to visitors. And if you're a jazz fan, don't miss Jazz by the Sea in Domburg from 17 to 20 September.
In short: there's still plenty to discover in Zeeland after summer.
